Welcome to the Wabash County SWCD Website!

The Wabash County Soil and  Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a legal subdivision of the State of  Indiana.  It was formed as an independent body under and subject only to the Indiana Soil and Water Conservation District Law.  The District is responsible for the leadership in conserving and protecting soil and water related resources within Wabash County.  The District does not have the power to replace or duplicate functions of other local government units.

The Wabash County SWCD is run by a five member board – all residents of Wabash County.  The landowners of the county elect three of the supervisors and the State Committee appoints the other two supervisors from recommendations sent by the local District Board.

Our Mission:  To help people conserve, improve and sustain our natural resources and environment through wise use of our soil, water and natural resources.

Our Purpose:  The Wabash County Soil and Water Conservation District serves both rural and urban people, non-agricultural and agricultural organizations, local units of government, individual landowners and others who request assistance.  We provide information about soil, water and related natural resource conservation; identify and prioritize local soil and water resource concerns; and connect land users to sources of education, technical and financial assistance to implement conservation practices and technologies.
